How offline capture and encrypted sync works
This guide explains what happens when users document care without internet and how updates converge after reconnection.
Two-way sync cycle: local writes, encrypted outbox, server persistence, and replay back to each device.
What local-first means in practice
- Your entry is written to local device storage immediately.
- The app queues encrypted sync actions in an outbox.
- When internet returns, queued actions replay safely.
How to work safely while offline
- Continue normal documentation instead of waiting for network recovery.
- Avoid creating duplicate events for the same medication or task.
- When reconnecting, keep app open briefly so outbox replay can finish.
- Confirm synced state in timeline before ending shift.
Example conflict scenario
Two caregivers update the same reminder title while offline. On reconnect, the app applies deterministic conflict rules and converges to one final value across devices, then updates projections consistently.
Troubleshooting quick checks
- Check device date/time and timezone are correct, since the app inherits timezone from the device.
- Confirm internet is restored and app is foregrounded.
- Retry sync after relaunch if queue appears stalled.
