Health analytics: calculations and scoring
This page explains the high-level calculation model used to produce adherence and trend summaries from medication, tasks, hydration, meal, and symptom records.
How analytics windows work
- Each metric is calculated for a selected window such as 7, 14, or 30 days.
- Daily values are grouped by local calendar day to reduce cross-timezone confusion.
- Missing entries are treated as missing data, not automatically as zero-intake or severe symptoms.
Core metric calculations
| Metric | Calculation | Interpretation |
|---|---|---|
| Medication adherence | (on-time + completed) / scheduled doses * 100 |
Higher percentage means more doses were completed in the planned window. |
| Task completion | completed tasks / assigned tasks * 100 |
Shows operational reliability of day-to-day care execution. |
| Hydration trend | daily intake total compared to baseline average |
Highlights sustained increase or decrease from a prior baseline period. |
| Meal consistency | days with target meals met / total days tracked * 100 |
Shows whether nutrition routines are steady over time. |
| Symptom change index | current period symptom score - baseline symptom score |
Positive or negative change indicates symptom worsening or improvement based on configured scale direction. |
Composite wellness summary
When a single summary score is shown, it is a weighted blend of normalized component metrics:
wellness_score = 0.35 * medication_adherence + 0.25 * task_completion + 0.20 * meal_consistency + 0.20 * hydration_consistency
Symptoms are typically displayed as a separate change signal rather than folded directly into the wellness score, so teams can inspect symptom context independently.
Trend direction and alert thresholds
- Trend slope compares recent days to baseline days using moving averages.
- A downward alert can be raised when adherence drops below a configured threshold for consecutive days.
- A symptom alert can be raised when symptom change exceeds a configured increase threshold.
Thresholds are intended for early attention, not standalone diagnosis. Always pair analytics with care notes and provider guidance.
Example walkthrough
In a 7-day window: 24 of 28 scheduled doses are completed, 18 of 20 tasks are completed, meal targets are met on 5 of 7 days, and hydration is below baseline by 12 percent.
- Medication adherence:
24 / 28 = 85.7% - Task completion:
18 / 20 = 90.0% - Meal consistency:
5 / 7 = 71.4% - Hydration trend: downward vs baseline
Even with strong task completion, the combined pattern suggests monitoring intake and reviewing hydration barriers.
